Eugene Onegin and other Poems

Alexander Pushkin
Eugene Onegin is unique. This verse novel tells one of the classic love stories in a cool and brilliant yet lyrical style which has captivated readers since the book appeared in 1833. Pushkin was the first Russian writer of world stature: he is revered by his countrymen for inaugurating their golden age of literature. But his greatest gift to posterity was the creation of poems and stories which still stir the heart and sharpen the mind two hundred years after his birth: Eugene Onegin is the greatest of them.
