sarcastronaut19 мая 2019There was getting the Twenty-third Psalm by heart, and singing a tedious hymn that began: Can a little child like me Thank the Father fittingly? and dragged on to a droning refrain (for Miss Wade had no skill as a choral director) of: Father, we thank Thee: (twice repeated) Father in Heaven, we thank Thee! Francis, who had a precocious theological bent, wondered why he was thanking the Father, whoever He might be, for this misery and this tedium.
